Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility and mounting guides.

Additional Information

Amperage Draw: 50 amps at maximum speed
Motor Run Time: Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.

  • 20 Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
  • 4 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
  • 2 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method: PowerDrive's Deploy-Assist lever makes it easy to deploy the motor by squeezing a lever, raising the shaft and deploying it into the water. When not in use, the shaft and head can be quickly removed from the water and laid on the deck for storage.
Motor Steering Method: The motors is steered via the included foot pedal which can control motor speed and direction. If the CoPilot or i-Pilot accessories are purchased, PowerDrive V2 can also be controlled via wireless remote control. Note: If a CoPilot or i-Pilot wireless remote is installed, the foot pedal will NOT function. If you'd like to be able to use both a pedal and wireless remote simultaneously, you'll need to choose a Terrova motor.
Shaft Adjustment: An adjustable depth collar makes it easy to set how deep the shaft and propeller sit in the water.
Motor Speed: All PowerDrive V2 motors are variable speed. Learn more about fixed vs. variable speed motors.

Odyssey 21ft.

Review by Ben Warren
Overall Rating
The motor is nice a pulls my pontoon around easily wasn't sure with only a 12v so I bought the biggest one and at 54 lbs. of thrust it worked very well. Haven't had it out on a very windy day but assume it will do at least fair in those conditions. The electric steer is really nice takes almost no getting used to and the motor uses almost no battery power. Had it out for 5 hrs. the other day and still had 12.4 volts on the battery charger when I came home. Good buy and performs up to expectations. (Posted on July 26, 2014)

20ft Pontoon Boat

Overall Rating
Have never bought a trolling motor, so we needed something reliable and easy to install. Just got it installed this past weekend and it worked like a charm! My husband and I have a lake house and this is really for the kids and grandkids. They used it and said it worked beautifully. It is easy to put on and take off when not using. Easy to install, didn't take but maybe 30 to 40 minutes. I think it's a keeper! (Posted on July 23, 2014)

Pontoon 20ft.

Review by Buddy
Overall Rating
This is my 3rd Minn Kota pontoon motor and it appears the digital technology is indeed a step up in overall performance. The change of direction function is smoother and faster. Motor power is as advertised. I have not had the product long enough to render a complete and comprehensive review, but am impressed thus far with the equipment. If I were ask to recommend a new wrinkle for you it would be to offer a product where directional change could be derived by a switch on the control device that would make the change in direction with the propeller rather than changing the direction of the motor. A reverse feature would be a real slick option. Maybe the cost would be prohibitive but I would love to have the capability. Otherwise, as stated above, the product is outstanding and I look forward to wearing it out !! (Posted on July 3, 2014)
