Additional Information

Amperage Draw: 50 amps at maximum speed
Motor Run Time: Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.

  • 20 Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
  • 4 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
  • 2 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method: With a single hand, you can remove your motor from the water without needing to fuss with buttons, levers or locks. Pull the motor slightly up to disengage, then rotate back for convenient stowing.
Motor Steering Method: Steer the trolling motor with the included hand tiller. The Minn Kota Traxxis steering control lets you fine-tune the amount of play in the steering column. Want smooth steering for precise maneuvering? It's easy to dial the tension back using the tension collar. Need a more rigid steering column to maintain a course? Tighten down the collar to eliminate steering play and keep the motor in place. Riptide Transom's collar lets you customize tension for any situation, making motor operation more convenient.
Shaft Adjustment: The motor's composite shaft caries a lifetime guarantee. If it's ever broken - regardless of the circumstances - Minn Kota will replace it at no charge. The rest of the motor caries a two year warranty backed up by hundreds of local Minn Kota service centers across the country. View Details Here

16ft Crestliner Super Hawk

Review by Walkerfish
Overall Rating
The motor runs great and is exactly what I needed for vertical jigging on the Detroit River in Michigan. Long battery run time, variable speeds and reliability are the three main reasons I bought this motor.

Also, TrollingMotors.net answered all my questions I asked about using this motor for back trolling. The video on their website shows a walleye pro using this motor to back troll and I wondered why the prop was facing in the opposite direction for this type of fishing. It turns out this is the best way to run the motor if you are using it all the time for back trolling and it's not hard to reverse it.

The motor came to my home quickly and in excellent condition. I did find out the 55 comes with a different prop than the one pictured on the box (weedless prop on box). The weedless prop is on the bigger motors only. So, they must use the same box to ship all their motors.

Definitely a motor and company I would recommend to other fishermen!!

Sea Eagle Foldboat 375

Review by John
Overall Rating
The motor works great! The variable speed is awesome. The variable speed can go so slow you can see the prop turn. I was also able to get 4.5 mph on my Sea Eagle Foldboat 375. (Written on 10/18/11) (Posted on November 28, 2012)
