MotorGuide's Great White is the standard by which all other saltwater trolling motors are measured. No other motor has a similar reputation for holding up to the elements and performing exceptionally on the open water. Corrosion, big waves, heat and long days are all expected, and Great White motors are designed to hold up to and excel in these conditions. Standard features include high-thrust motors for easy maneuvering, anodized aluminum mounts to prevent corrosion, a completely sealed digital module and an exceptionally efficient digital motor to provide all-day power.
Great White 109 Transom Full Details
Large Saltwater v-hull, center console, and general fishing boats 25'+. The 109 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats weighing 5,000+ lbs. For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weights - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
MotorGuide Great White trolling motors are a great option for fishermen who want the sturdy build of the MotorGuide Tour Edition motor, but want a hand control or transom mount. Built specifically for saltwater use, Great White is made with an anodized aluminum mount and components which are corrosion resistant. A variable speed motor, soft-start feature, and optional bow or transom mount make Great White an excellent choice for saltwater fishermen.
The MotorGuide Wireless Edition trolling motors are available in both fresh and saltwater versions, and are controlled by either a wireless foot pedal or remote control. Compared to the Great White, the Wireless Edition motors are a good solution for saltwater fishermen who want the flexibility to move around the boat while controlling the trolling motor.
Saltwater and Freshwater

MotorGuide Great White is compatible with select quick release plates and handle extensions - please see the right-hand side product bar.
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling into the boat for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility and mounting guides.

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
Great White features a Gator Breakaway mount which includes a hinged door allows for easy motor removal. When the trolling motor is not in use, the motor can be manually removed from the water and naturally rotates into a flat position to convenient stow on the deck. When ready for use, simply slide the motor head and shaft forward, and it effortlessly swings back down into the water.
Motor Steering Method:
The MotorGuide Great White is steered by hand. Motor speed is controlled by rotating the hand lever.
The Gator Breakaway mount has a shaft adjustment that makes it easy to set how deep the shaft and propeller sit in the water.
All MotorGuide Great White motors have a variable speed motor. Learn more about fixed vs. variable speed motors.
The MotorGuide Great White motors carry a 2 year warranty against manufacture defects and is supported by hundreds of local MotorGuide service centers across the country.
