Quick Release Plate Overview
Trolling Motor Quick Release Brackets
Nearly all bow mount trolling motors are installed by bolting them to the deck of the boat. While this provides a secure, easy method for installation it makes things a bit difficult if your need to remove your motor for storage, to transfer to a different boat, or for any other reason. With a standard installation, you'll need to un-bolt your motor to remove it. While not difficult, this can be time consuming and inconvenient, especially if you'll be removing it frequently.
Subsequently, quick release brackets are a very popular trolling motor accessory. These brackets come with two interlocking parts: one end is bolted to the deck and the other to the base of the trolling motor. The two parts fit together easily, and are usually locked together with a screw, pin or cam-lock, making it easy to quickly remove and re-mount your motor.
Minn Kota quick release brackets are uniquely designed for each individual motor category, so make sure you get one that fits your specific model. If you're using a MotorGuide, things are a bit simpler: their quick release brackets feature a universal fit for freshwater and saltwater models.
