Tritoon
Picking A Trolling Motor For A Tri-Toon
- Compared to pontoons, tri-toons are considerably heavier. They will require at least 24v motor and often 36v (80 lbs - 115 lbs max thrust) with shaft lengths between 54”- 60". As always, take proper measurements and consider weight as well as conditions to determine the correct motor for your specific model.
- Trolling motors equipped with GPS technology have become increasingly popular on Tri-Toons. Technologies such as Minn Kota's "Advanced GPS" enables the motor to steer and engage the throttle itself in order to hold a position or a heading. Just press the anchor button on your remote and your trolling motor will keep your boat parked in the same spot. Even if you're not fishing use Spot Lock to take a break in your favorite cove or *safely park near your friends. (*Spot Lock is no substitute for common boating sense so please be cautious)
- We also highly recommend a specialized bracket such as a Toon Troll bracket which is specifically designed for pontoons and takes up far less deck space than traditional mounting brackets.
- Take a look at the latest generation of brushless trolling motors with more thrust, efficiency and quieter operation. Motors such as a Minn Kota Ulterra QUEST, a Terrova QUEST or a Garmin Force Kraken
- If you want to a more affordable motor and don't want to skimp on technology, a Minn Kota Freshwater Terrova or Minn Kota Ulterra will certainly do the trick
Tri-Toon Thrust Selection
Please remember that boat weight is the most important criteria to use when selecting an appropriate motor size. Boat length is provided as a helpful guideline but should not be used as a primary determinant of motor size. If you're unsure how much your boat weighs, you can look it up in the JD Power boat directory.

What fishermen are saying…
i-Pilot is like magic. Like a magician in a black cape standing next to me in my boat sprinkling pixie dust and saying, “Abracadabra! More fish!” Thanks TrollingMotors.net for making this magical purchase so easy and fun. You guys are the best.
Phil in Arcadia, FL
Why buy from Bass Pro or Cabelas when you can buy from these guys? From start to finish this was one of the best, if not the best, online shopping experiences I’ve ever had. The owner answered all my questions, the prices were great, and the motor arrived in two days. Don’t buy anywhere else.
Jason in Lake Charles, TX
