Xpress Boat
Picking a Trolling Motor for an Xpress
- Xpress boats come in all shapes and sizes from traditional bass boats to saltwater bay boats
- Xpress bass boats typically require 24v trolling motors with 80 lbs max thrust. Common shaft lengths range from 45" to 57".
- Xpress bay boats most often require 24v trolling motors with 80 lbs thrust and shaft lengths ranging from 54"-60"
- Xpress aluminum hunting boats such as their 'Catfish' lineup require 12v to 24v trolling motors with 55 lbs - 80 lbs max thrust. Shaft lengths range from 45" to 52"
- Consider a motor equipped with GPS technology like Minn Kota's Advanced GPS which automatically adjusts the motor's speed and steering to hold a position or a heading. The most popular feature is anchor mode (aka 'Spot Lock') which automatically holds the boat in a fixed position while making adjustments for wind or current.
- For freshwater models take a look at trolling motors with responsive foot pedal steering in addition to remote control operation. These motors such as the Ultrex QUEST or Garmin Force Pro will also include a variety of integrated sonar technologies to choose from depending on which brand of multi-function displays and electronics installed on your boat.
- For saltwater Xpress models, motors such as the Riptide Terrova QUEST and Garmin Force Kraken are great options for a Bay Boat.
- If you want a more affordable motor and don't want to skimp on technology, the Minn Kota Terrova and Riptide Terrova are popular freshwater and saltwater trolling motors.
- Purchase and install a quick release bracket - it will make life a lot easier for storage, service, trailering and boat covers.
Xpress Boat Thrust Selection
Please remember that boat weight is the most important criteria to use when selecting an appropriate motor size. Boat length is provided as a helpful guideline but should not be used as a primary determinant of motor size. If you're unsure how much your boat weighs, you can look it up in the JD Power boat directory.

What fishermen are saying…
i-Pilot is like magic. Like a magician in a black cape standing next to me in my boat sprinkling pixie dust and saying, “Abracadabra! More fish!” Thanks TrollingMotors.net for making this magical purchase so easy and fun. You guys are the best.

Why buy from Bass Pro or Cabelas when you can buy from these guys? From start to finish this was one of the best, if not the best, online shopping experiences I’ve ever had. The owner answered all my questions, the prices were great, and the motor arrived in two days. Don’t buy anywhere else.
