X3 55FW Full Details
Small to medium sized freshwater v-hull, pontoon, jon and general fishing boats up to 21'. The 55 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats weighing up to 2,750 lbs For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weighs - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
The Xi3 series is the affordable younger brother to the Xi5 series. Both series offer wireless control and the ability to upgrade to PowerPoint GPS. The Xi3 is available with thrust options of 55 and 70 lbs.
Shaft lengths of 36", 45" and 50" are available for X3 55 motors. For help selecting a shaft length, please see our shaft guide.
Precision Steering, Combined Composite and Stainless Shaft, Two-Blade Prop. (Learn about these features)
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling into the boat for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility and mounting guides.

- Power leads
- Mounting hardware

What Else Is Required:
1 Marine Battery, Battery Charger, Circuit Breaker (Recommended)

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20 Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
The X3 series motors features a new aircraft-grade extruded aluminum mount. When the trolling motor is not in use, the motor can be manually removed from the water and naturally rotates into a flat position to convenient stow on the deck. When ready for use, simply slide the motor head and shaft forward, and it effortlessly swings back down into the water.
Motor Steering Method:
The MotorGuide X3 series motors are steered by foot pedal. The cable-driven foot pedal is controlled by rocking your foot back and forth to control motor direction while motor speed is controlled by the rotating dial on the side of the foot pedal.
An adjustable depth collar makes it easy to set how deep the shaft and propeller sit in the water.
All MotorGuide X3 motors are fixed speed. Learn more about fixed vs. variable speed motors.
MotorGuide motors carry a 2 year warranty against manufacture defects and a lifetime warranty on shafts, all supported by hundreds of local MotorGuide service centers across the country.

The service from TM.net is excellent. I am not impressed with the Motorguide unit. The advertised shaft length was 4" longer than the actual usable shaft length. Supposed to be 36 " but is only 32". I replaced an old 30 lb. thrust motor with the supposed 55 lb. unit but can tell very little, if any, difference. Great service.....not so great product.
Good trolling motor. Lots of pulling power. Used only 1 time. I didn't realize it wasn't a variable speed trolling motor. My fought of course. But *******me off I have a trolling motor now that I do not want bc it's not variable speed and sucks for crappy fishing. Company did fast shipping and folks I talked too were very friendly. Quality overall is very good.
BassTracker - Pro Team 175 - 17.5'
Like previous MotorGuides I have owned, this is a solid, well designed trolling motor. Installation was simple and the mount fits snugly to the deck. The unit has plenty of power with the 55lb of thrust. It appears to be very efficient with the battery power. The steering is positive and the foot control works well. The stainless steel shaft is quite substantial. The directional arrow on the top of the unit is easily visible and adjustable if needed. As a bass fisherman, I move around docks and boathouses. This unit is very quiet, especially on 2 power. 5 power quickly moves the boat across major coves without having to start the outboard. Trollingmotors.net also has a great customer service department. Thanks Guys !
