If Budweiser is the King of Beers, then the Terrova is the King of Trolling Motors. This incredible machine is far and away the most popular freshwater trolling motor on the market today. Fishermen love it for its reliability, its well-designed one-hand stow and deploy with Lift-Assist, and for the versatile features enabled by i-Pilot or i-Pilot Link such as “spot lock," "iTracks" and "jog." Redesigned for 2017 to include more accurate GPS and additional functionality.
We just love it because it sells itself. A quick Google search and you can spend your day reading endless positive reviews about the Terrova. Equally impressive is that more and more cable-steer guys are making the switch to this electric steer alternative. The responsive foot pedal teamed up with the intuitive i-Pilot remote makes this a compelling choice and enables you to fish in all sorts of interesting ways. Comes standard with a Wired Foot Pedal, Digital Maximizer, Weedless Wedge 2 prop and a two-year warranty. Also available with AutoPilot, i-Pilot, i-Pilot Link, and US2 Sonar. Terrova 80 Full Details
Medium to large freshwater v-hull, bass, pontoon and general fishing boats up to 23'. The 80 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats weighing up to 4,000lbs. For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weighs - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
The Terrova series is a step-up from the Powerdrive line of motors. While both models are compatible with AutoPilot/CoPilot/i-Pilot/i-Pilot Link accessories, only the Terrova line offers the ability to use a foot pedal AND a wireless CoPilot or i-Pilot controller simultaneously. Additionally, Terrova includes a unique mount that features an easy-to-use lever for one-hand stowing of the trolling motor and offers thrust options of 55, 80 and 112 lbs. For a better understanding of foot pedal compatibility, please see our Foot Pedal Compatibility Chart. For a comparison between the Terrova and PowerDrive motors please our Comparison Guide.
We recommend the PowerDrive V2 trolling motor for fishermen who are looking for a value-priced motor that is compatible with AutoPilot/CoPilot/i-Pilot/i-Pilot Link accessories and don't need to simultaneously control the motor with a foot pedal. PowerDrive is available in 45, 55 and 70 lb thrust levels.
Shaft lengths of 45", 60" and 72" are available for Terrova 80 motors. For help selecting a shaft length, please see our shaft guide.
Variable Speed Motor, Electric Foot Pedal, Lift-Assist, Heading Sensor, Bluetooth Smartphone App, Digital Maximizer, Built-In Battery Gauge, Weedless Wedge Prop, Composite Shaft. (Learn about these features)
This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling into the boat for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility and mounting guides or download motor installation instructions and heading sensor instructions.

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
Terrova's redesigned stow and deploy system includes a one hand (or foot) lever with a lift-assist mechanism that carries the weight of the motor. Simply push down on the lever and the motor easily stows.
Motor Steering Method:
The motor is steered via the included foot pedal which can control motor speed and direction. If the CoPilot or i-Pilot accessories are purchased, Terrova can also be controlled via wireless remote control. Note: If a CoPilot or i-Pilot wireless remote is installed, the foot pedal will function. The Terrova is the only Minn Kota motor that offers the ability to use a foot pedal AND a wireless CoPilot or i-Pilot controller simultaneously.
An adjustable depth collar makes it easy to set how deep the shaft and propeller sit in the water.
All Terrova motors have a variable speed motor. Learn more about fixed vs. variable speed motors.
The motor's composite shaft caries a lifetime guarantee. If it's ever broken - regardless of the circumstances - Minn Kota will replace it at no charge. The rest of the motor caries a two year warranty backed up by hundreds of local Minn Kota service centers across the country. View Details Here

16’ Jon boat
George Catlin of Trolling motors.net helped me out a lot. He is a big asset to Minn Kota. I love the motor. The engineering is futuristic compared to my old trolling motor. Stowing and deploying the Terrova is unbelievably easy. The engineering and quality shows in the shaft, paint job, moving parts etc. and good overall look of the motor. Minn Kota has really come a long way.
16' Tracker jon boat
I have not received the motor yet. I was so impressed by the fantastic service I had on the phone with George who talked me thru each item I needed as it is very complex ordering all those parts. I read a lot of reviews and I agree about your service so far. It really is great! You dont get service like that many places anymore. Thanks George.

deck boat 22.5 feet
bought this for anchor feature and remote control. Does exactly that. Little bit of unconventional installation on deck boat and Clayton was very helpful. Best place I know of to buy trolling motor.

19' Sylvan Sport Select V hull
Bought this motor primarily for trolling for walleye here in N. Michigan. I've used it nightly for the last two weeks and it's performed great. I fish alone a lot and the autopilot and cruise control make it easy to work trolling rods and not have to worry about boat control. I bought the 60" shaft, after the previous 54" trolling motor I had, proved too short especially in choppy conditions. I opted not to get the link and as I have my depth finder mounted on the dash and fish from the stern it is easy to see the screen and make adjustments to course using the remote. I've been able to use the navionics map to follow the contours with simple remote adjustment and stay where the fish are. I have not fished using the spot lock feature but have tested it and seemed to hold the boat nicely in place and look forward to using this for still fishing for perch. I bow mounted two deep cycle batteries to run the motor and hooked a Minn Kota Precision 330 charger to them and to my stern mounted deep cycle battery. Every night after fishing I simply plug it in and all three batteries are fully charged the next morning. My starting battery is charged by my Evinrude E Tec motor. I'm very pleased with the Terrova 80 and the service provided by TrollingMotors.net. Received my order two days after placing.
24 foot Bentley pontoon 220 cruiser.
Thank you for allowing me to submit a review, I ordered a Minn Kota Terrova 80 LB thrust with I pilot on a Thursday night close to midnight, the motor went out on Friday afternoon and got the motor Wednesday early morning. The service you guys provided sending me updates About the where abouts of the motor was outstanding. The motor is working like a champ, and it moves that pontoon boat like just a small bass boat, already tested in the wind and with high current on the lake and again it works like a champ. As far as the batteries I went with 2 x 12 V batteries from west marine Deep Cycle Flooded Marine Battery, 105 Amp Hours, Group 31, I use the batteries only for the trolling motor and the trolling motor alone. I ran the motor all day and the batteries still got juice in them. 100 amps hours is what is reccomended from minn Kota for my set up. Wiring I went with 8 ga wired for all wiring power set up, I also use a 2 foot 6 ga cable to link the batteries. For breaker I got the minn Kota mkr 19 circuit breaker 60 amps which is he one reccomended by minn Kota. I also got the quick connect cable from minn Kota because I don’t want to leave the trolling motor outside as well as the mka21 quick release bracket and so far so good, any marine battery charger should do the trick but you might want at least a 2 bank battery charger minimum if you are going to leave the batteries on the boat with an on board battery charger. I got the no 210 on board charger. You guys are awesome and will definitely will do business with you guys again in the near future. V/R Hector Santiago South Carolina.

Received trolling motor in about a week after ordering. Very pleased with ordering experience & prompt delivery. I have used the trolling motor 6 times & love it, especially the I-pilot & remote. Will never go back to cable control. I did not get the universal sonar, so the only problem I had was figuring out how to attach the transducer cable to the motor shaft. After watching several you tube videos on how to attach cable, I finally ended up having my neighbor make 2 brackets that were 8 in. long. One bracket mounted on top of motor shaft just below the head & the other one mounted on shaft at bottom just above lower unit. The brackets were connected by a coiled tubing with the transducer cable running up through inside of coiled tubing to take up slack when motor was stowed. These brackets hold the transducer cable out away from motor shaft so it doesn't get wrapped around shaft/housing when turning. This has worked out very good. You can also buy these brackets & coiled hose from a company for $120 - $130. This system allows you to clamp any transducer (down imaging & side imaging) to the bottom of your trolling motor.
