We're Sorry: Minn Kota No Longer Manufactures Engine Mount Motors
Minn Kota's Engine Mount motors stay hidden under the water! Attached to your outboard motor, it provides the convenience of a trolling motor without the hassle or unsightliness of having one on-deck. Perfect for dual-purpose recreation and fishing boats, these engine mount motors can be controlled using the corded remote and feature sealed electronics, an interference-free composite mount and Digital Maximizer for extended run-time.EM 55 Full Details
Recommended for:
For dual-purpose recreation and fishing boat up to 21'. The 55 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats weighing up to 2,750lbs. For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weights - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
Minn Kota Engine mount motors are unique as the motor attaches to the cavitation plate of your existing outboard engine, rather than the bow or transom of your boat. This unique motor is ideal for dual-purpose boats, or in scenarios where mounting a traditional trolling motor is not possible. The motor includes a wired remote that controls prop speed and direction (forward or reverse), while the motor is steered with your boat's existing steering wheel. Available in thrust levels up to 160 lbs, Minn Kota engine mount motors are a good fit for all sizes of boats.
Be sure to look over the mounting specs of the Engine Mount motor to be sure it is compatible with your outboard motor.

Mounting Details:
Mounting an engine mount trolling motor requires drilling into the cavitation plate of your outboard engine. Because this process is more complicated than installing a traditional trolling motor, we have designed a comprehensive Compatibility & Installation Guide. Please read through this guide to ensure that your outboard engine is compatible with the Engine Mount motor, and that you understand what steps are required for installation.

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantial longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
Engine mount motors are attached to the boat's outboard engine. When the outboard motor is stowed or deployed, so is the trolling motor.
Motor Steering Method:
Engine mount trolling motors are steered with the boat's existing steering wheel.
Shaft Adjustment:
Engine mount motors are installed to the outboard engine using a fixed mount and do not have a shaft like traditional trolling motors.
