For serious fisherman, and serious Motorguide fans, we are excited to offer the new Xi5 wireless trolling motor. The Xi5 represents a big step in the right direction for Motorguide and points to their renewed focus on technological innovation and design. The Xi5 offers a host of new features including sophisticated steering transmission, well-lit status indicators, fully protected electronics, a low-profile mount, and a composite shaft. It's engineered to be reliable and long-lasting.
The new Xi5 includes wireless capability "right out of the box", enabling you to precisely control your motor from anywhere on the boat. A wireless foot pedal is standard with freshwater models and a hand-held remote is standard with saltwater models. The new Xi5 also runs smooth and extremely quiet. Order it with Pinpoint GPS, MotorGuide's answer to Minn Kota's i-Pilot, and experience the benefits of virtual anchoring, route recording and autopilot/cruise control. See below for additional product details.
Xi5 105 SW Full Details
Large freshwater v-hull, center console, pontoon and general fishing boats 25' or longer. The 105 lbs thrust motor is recommended for boats weighing up to 5,500lbs. For more help picking the right thrust level - or to learn how much your boat weighs - please refer to our thrust guide.
How It's Unique
The Xi5 series is a step-up from the MotorGuide Wireless line of motors. While both models can be controlled wirelessly, only the Xi5 line offers the ability to use a GPS to control and position your boat. Additionally, the Xi5 is available with thrust options of 55, 80 and 105 lbs and in saltwater specific models.
If you're looking for something different, we recommend the Wireless series trolling motor for fishermen who need a value-priced motor that can be controlled wirelessly. The Wireless series motors are available in 45, 55 and 75 lb thrust levels.
Saltwater and Freshwater
Shaft lengths of 45", 54" and 60" are available for Xi5 motors. For help selecting a shaft length, please see our shaft guide.
Fully Protected Electronics, Variable Speed Motor, Electric Foot Pedal, LED Indicator Lights, Two-Blade Prop, Composite Shaft, Low Profile Mount. (Learn about these features)
- Pinpoint GPS: Advanced GPS-powered boat control (More on Pinpoint GPS)
The Xi5 includes 8 different mounting options enabling reverse mounting compatibility with older MotorGuide installations as well as competitive models. This motor is bolted directly to the bow of the boat using the included mounting hardware, and requires drilling into the boat for installation. Ideally, it's best to have access to the underside of the mounting platform in order to secure and fasten the bolting hardware. However, if accessing the underside is impossible you can use no access bolts to secure the motor from the top. For more information see our compatibility and mounting guides.

Motor Run Time:
Important Note: As you likely won't be running your trolling motor perpetually, the actual amount of on-the-water time a motor should allow will be substantially longer than times listed. Actual motor run time can vary depending on conditions (winds, waves, etc) and the type of battery used. Listed below are run-time estimates assuming a 100 amp hour rated battery. To learn more, please see our article on calculating motor run time.
- 20+ Hours: At slow, trolling speeds that draw 5 amps or less
- 4.8 Hours: Approx. run time with throttle 50% open
- 2.4 Hours: Approx. run time with the motor at full throttle
Stow and Deploy Method:
Xi5's Deploy-Assist lever makes it easy to deploy the motor by squeezing a lever, raising the shaft and deploying it into the water. When not in use, the shaft and head can be quickly removed from the water and laid on the deck for storage.
Motor Steering Method:
The motor is steered via the included wireless foot pedal which controls motor speed and direction. If the Motorguide GPS wireless remote is purchased, you can control the motor with the handheld unit.
An adjustable depth collar makes it easy to set how deep the shaft and propeller sit in the water.
All MotorGuide Xi5 motors have a variable speed motor. Learn more about fixed vs. variable speed motors.
MotorGuide motors carry a 2 year warranty against manufacture defects and is supported by hundreds of local MotorGuide service centers across the country.

Shipping was great and arrived packaged well to ensure no damage in transit. The motor appears to be great and installation was a breeze just waiting to see how it works on the water (I have not tested this yet) I have high expectations after using the minn kota terrova and being on a friends boat with the Xi5 motor guide that seemed to hold the spot closer than my older minn kota.
2020 action craft
bought one of these from trolling motors . net . very good service . I don't use routes of try to link it to my lowrance. I use heading lock ,cruise control, and anchor modes. this thing rocks. anchor lock is dead on and when fishing long stretches of beach the heading lock is great. my out board wouldn't start after fishing 10 hours using trolling motor most of the day. headed back on trolling motor 6 miles to boat ramp. it took 3 hours on 100 percent but I didn't need a tow. still had 30 percent left on batteries. way better than min kota. I fish 3 or 4 days a week 8 months of the year
Bay Boat 22 ft
I love this trolling motor. I was worried at first about changing to the remote control method of steering but it is very easy. I was used to using a manual handle style. Almost no learning curve. Also the spot lock feature is invaluable. I can't imagine living with out it now. It holds in a stiff breeze or current and is way better than dropping anchor when offshore. Also I cannot **** the batteries with this thing. I went with the 36v 105# system for my 22 ft bay boat. I can't imagine having anything less with a boat this size. Especially if your going to be in strong currents or windy conditions get the 36v. You won't regret it.
